Why do I need a Portuguese Birth Certificate?

If you are a dual citizen or were born outside Portugal to Portuguese legal guardians, you'll need your Portuguese birth certificate to request a NIF.

Portuguese citizens must present their Portuguese birth certificate to request their NIF, as without it Finance (Finanças) won't accept your request.
