# What can I use as a Foreign Tax Identification Number?

# What is the Foreign TIN?

Usually your TIN is any ID personal number where you register your taxes with the IRS of your country of residence. You may find it on ID Cards, Passport, Driver's Licence, depending on the country.

**Note:** this document is NOT your NIF Portugal (which is your tax number in Portugal).

If your country does not have this type of number, you can provide a national ID card number.

# What do I need to supply?

The bank needs a document showing your **foreign TIN** **AND** **your** **full name**.

The **TIN must come from the same country** as the one from which you provided your proof of address.

You can't send the number only.

Depending on the case, the document may be an **identity** or **social security card**, a **tax return** or a **payslip**.
