# How do I upload my proof of identity for my NIE?

All you have to do is take your passport, click on "**Upload document**" and proceed to upload your document, following the instructions on the screen.

| Applicants from EU countries can also use an identity card as proof of identity.

||| The quality of the proof of identity is crucial. We strongly recommend using a scanner to upload the passport. 


A low-quality document (illegible, incomplete, or with glare) will be systematically rejected by the Spanish police authority, causing significant delays and requiring you to submit the application again.
