When applying for your NIF, AnchorLess ensures that we submit the exact information you provide to us. However, errors can sometimes occur during the data entry process by the Portuguese Tax Authorities (Finanças).

The Most Important Thing: Your NIF Number is Correct & Usable!

Despite any inaccuracies in the supporting details (like name spelling or address), the NIF number assigned to you is correct and will remain the same. You can begin using this NIF number for any purposes you require, such as opening a bank account or other administrative tasks.

There is only one requirement: The electronic signature must match the one on the ID document provided (e.g., Passport or National ID card [National ID Card for EU/EEA/Swiss citizens only]). If your signature is too different from the one on your passport, we'll ask you to sign again! This is to avoid rejection by the Fincancas. If you find it difficult to sign electronically via the form you can directly download the POA, insert your electronic signature (if so, return the signed file via email) or print it, sign it, scan it and send it to us by email at support@anchorless.io Please be aware that the scan must be of good quality.

Usually your TIN is any ID personal number where you register your taxes with the IRS of your country of residence. You may find it on ID Cards, Passport, Driver's Licence, depending on the country.

Note: this document is NOT your NIF Portugal (which is your tax number in Portugal).

If your country does not have this type of number, you can provide a national ID card number.

What do I need to supply?

The bank needs a document showing your foreign TIN AND your full name.

The TIN must come from the same country as the one from which you provided your proof of address.

You can't send the number only.

Depending on the case, the document may be an identity or social security card, a tax return or a payslip.
